Disney seems to have cornered the market on computer-generated movies that turn out to be pretty funny. I am not even sure if this movie is from Pixar or not and I am not even sure what this movie is about but it has a T. Rex and it talks about its head being too big and its arms too small and that equals laughter where I am from. The movie is called "Meet the Robinsons." It's a movie that takes place sometime in the future. Exactly who the Robinsons are and what this movie is actually about is completely unexplained. However, the entire commercial came down to the very last scene shown.
A large yellow Tyrannosaurus Rex is seen trying to grab a small boy who has managed to wedge himself into a tight corner. As the beast bends down it bumps its head and reaches its tiny arms but cannot grab the child.
Cut to a man with a mustachioed man who is apparently controlling the giant animal. He screams into a walkie-talkie:
"Why are you not grabbing the boy?"
To everyone's surprise the dinosaur stands up, looks around and then speaks, in dinosaur, but with subtitles.
"I have a very large head and I have very small arms."
Now that's funny no matter how many ways you slice it. Does it make me want to see this movie? Yes, I have to say that this works. Do I hope the T. Rex has more scenes than that one? Yes, I do. The animal is then seen dancing around while the credits are shown so I am hoping it is a major character.
Of course there were other movie previews shown but none of them looked particularly funny. I think the other major film preview I saw had problems because it starred John Travolta, Martin Lawrence and Tim Allen. No matter how much you slice those guys together you are not going to have a funny preview commercial.
If you want to see the commercial then visit ifilms. You can follow this linkhttp://www.ifilm.com/superbowl. I have no idea if Disney is still releasing movies with Pixar or if they have started their own computer animation division but "Meet the Robinsons looks pretty funny. I give this commercial a definite thumbs up.
