Whitney Houston: Regaining Reputation or Repetition?

Before we get started let me tell you, I am not your most enthusiastic Whitney Houston fan. But to me, elegance and grace is what I think of when I've watched Whitney Houston on stage. With a voice that would put chills up your spine as she brings life into music, Whitney has always tried to give it her all. The most memorable moment for me was when she sung the National Anthem at one of the major sports events.

I remember how it brought tears to my eyes and how proud I was of her making a song already so respected by the nation, even more special. I knew she was to be a icon for years to come. Unfortunately life can play havoc with what you may feel were your good intentions. Whitney's life as you know it, turned drastically from elegance and grace to a detrimental mess! Drugs, infidelity, public outburst, arrests all played a part in her career and marriage. We all prayed that somehow she would come out of it on top.

With a reputation that was good enough for even legendary actress, Lena Horne to want Whitney Houston to accept her request to play her in her own biography. Mrs Horne and her daughter had emphatically disputed Janet Jackson be given the part, after her outrageous clothing malfunction. Lena Horne must now consider Whitney's comeback efforts, before pursuing on with her biography movie.

Will Whitney be able to move forward in her quest to reconquer her reputation as one of the most talented African American singers in the industry, or will it be too much for the once rehab diva? My guess is that she has taken the first step in the right direction and it is all up to the strength that we know she has. Of course there will be naysayers but isn't this always the way when you are up against days of despair and hardship?
