Just starting out in the field of Internet marketing can be overwhelming. There are so many paths to take, so many options to consider, how do you know if the direction that you want to go will be profitable or a waste of time?

Internet marketing is nothing more than using the Internet to advertise and sell goods and services. To survive in today's marketplace, Internet marketing is a business imperative because the Internet is a permanent and unstoppable trend. So to really grasp what the Internet marketing business is all about is essential.

The first thing you will notice is that the world of Internet marketing is full of jargon. Learning what people are talking about can be a small job in itself. Next you will realize that Internet marketing is not a short-term strategy. You may learn a trick or two that works for a couple of days or weeks, but in the long run you need a solid understanding of the ins and outs of the dynamic processes involved to give you staying power.

Also, Internet marketing is a tough and competitive business, no matter what your product or service. Because it can be so powerful a lot of people put a lot of time, effort, and money into being successful.

Trying to do Internet marketing by myself I found to be a real roller coaster ride. It is sometimes both awesome and scary. You wonder if the money that you have invested is worth it, and you hope that you will at least make back what you put in.

But all that changed when I found a mentor. A mentor is a trusted counselor and adviser. And actually, right now, I have many mentors. What I am saying is that there are many people who are right now not only teaching me how to do Internet marketing, but are there when I get stuck, have a problem, or get discouraged.

I think everybody needs a mentor to help him or her achieve success in Internet marketing, and a group of mentors can really get you going in the right track.

Finding mentors can be a difficult if not impossible task. There is really only one way to find people who are trustworthy and have your best interests in mind. The only way is to go by someone's recommendation. Don't guess, it can cost you time and money.
