If you are typing an article or something along those lines, it is a good idea to keep saving the changes that you have made every so often. To keep from using my mouse and stopping to go to the top of my program to save my work, I simply press CTRL S on my keyboard. CTRL + S will save your work. You can also click the floppy disk icon at the top of your program to save your work, or you can click File > Save. Which ever is more convenient for you.
How to Open a Document
Click File > Open at the top of your program. A dialog box will pop up on your screen. Locate the file on your computer that you want to open. Click it one time and click the Open button. You can also double click the file and it will open.
