Berkshire Community College was established in 1960. The people who started the community college wanted to offer a low cost alternative to those who were less fortunate or wanted to save money. Over 2,400 students enroll in the college every year now. The school continues to grow and expand on it's current location. They offer a variety of Associate's degree programs in over twenty different fields.

Many students have dreams and high hopes of attending four year institutions that will help them capture their bachelor degrees and make something of themselves. Each year, those same students are rejected by some of those institutions because their grades were not high enough. Others simply can not afford to pay the tuition costs for four straight years. That is why Berkshire Community College has become a solid first step to achieving the education that we all dream for.

I must first admit I was not one of those students. I had the chance to attend a four year college and regret it everyday. After four years of schooling at Western New England College in Springfield, MA, I am now in $65,000 dollars worth of debt. If I had chose to go to Berkshire Community College first, I would have saved a lot of money. I may of not picked Berkshire Community College as my school of choice, but I did attend the school to fulfill a few extra classes that I needed at a lower price.

I ended up needing to make up three classes that I struggled in at Western New England College. My goal was to make up the classes at a community college and transfer the credits. I looked into several community colleges and settled on Berkshire Community College. The reason I settled on them is because they were one of the few colleges whose programs were easily accepted and recognized by many of the top universities. My credits would transfer with no hassle from them, so I decided they were the best fir.
