Sometime last year my family and I went to the local theater to see a movie. During the previews we saw a trailer for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie followed by a trailer of the Transformers movie. My mom leaned over and asked me, "are they making a movie of every cartoon you watched when you were a kid?" It seems that way doesn't? Lately it's been very popular to bring back popular franchises from the 80's. They aren't making movies of all the cartoons from my childhood and in many cases that's a good thing. However there are some cartoons they should make movies of.

G.I. Joe - This is a pretty obvious one. Yes there was a G. I. Joe movie in the 80's but it was a cartoon movie, I'm talking about a live action movie. After all, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles live action movie was good despite having to film people in large turtle costumes. Now Transformers is getting its own live action movie even though the Transformers are all robots. It seems pretty obvious that G. I. Joe would be a much easier film to make since you don't need turtle costumes or full animated robots, all you need is people. Plus you can't tell me that Samuel L. Jackson wasn't born to play Roadblock in a G. I. Joe movie.

M. A. S. K. - M. A. S. K. (or Mobile Armored Strike Kommand) was a popular cartoon that was sort of an amalgamation of G. I. Joe and Transformers. The members of M. A. S. K. were a strike force like G. I. Joe but their vehicles turned into two different things like Transformers. For example you might have a jeep that also turned into a boat. This movie would provide viewers with cool vehicles, cool animation (when the vehicles transform) but would also have human actors which is a good thing because I'm afraid the lack of human actors will probably be the Transformers movie's downfall

When these movies finally get made sit back and relax with some popcorn.

Takeaways
  • G. I. Joe would be an easy movie to make since all the characters are humans.
  • M. A. S. K. would have cool transforming vehicles but also human actors.
  • Captain N would bring in a lot of the video game fans.

I CAN`T BELIEVE THAT HOLLYWOOD PRODUCERS HAVEN'T THOUGHT ABOUT GALAXY RANGERS, A MIX OF STAR WARS AND FAR WEST MOVIES!!!! AND ADD ITS AWESOME SOUNDTRACK TO ALL THAT. IT'S INCREDIBLE.

I totally miss the cartoons of the 80's. The stuff that's on nowadays just sucks. GI Joe is definitely in the running for a movie. Did you hear that there's a Thundercats movie in the making. It's in CGI.

Don't you remember how bad Josie & the Pussycats the movie was (70s cartoon)?

How about ThunderCats?

To the man they call LMO, I believe Skeletor was played by Frank Langella. He played Perry White in Superman Returns. That being said, I'd LOVE a newer movie. A better one. The one that came out in the late 80s was ridiculous. I would want one set on Eternia (not Earth for crying out loud) with killer FX and those purple skies that were always around Snake Mountain. And I second the She-Ra comment.

I totally agree - especially with the Voltron and Space Ghost! Those were awesome toons!

How about Count Duckula? A movie about a vegetarian vampire duck seems like a natural. Certainly better than 99% of the crud Hollywood keeps foisting upon us.

They already did He-Man... it was Dolph Lundgren. I don't know if I should go any farther. Guy who played Skeletor was freaking great though.

Oh, goodness, I haven't heard the name Voltron in about 20 years! God, that shows how much time has passed since my childhood!! I think G.I. Joe would definately be easy to make into a movie. They could also create He-Man and She-Ra movies as well. 10 years ago, I'm sure my dear governor Arnold would have been cast in the role of He-Man. Oh, well, maybe they'll get The Rock to do it!

GI Joe would be an awesome movie!

I love Thundercats but there is no way Hollywood would ever make a good Thundercats movie.

No way. Bring on Thundercats and She-Ra and I'm there!

I never watched an of these except Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and I do not think I will see the movie. I think it is cool how they are going from the small screen to the big screen. Great article.
