Crash Twinsanity was the second game developed by Traveler's Tail following their first attempt "The Wrath of Cortex" which was released in 2001. Traveler's Tail replaced Naughty Dog as the developer of Crash and in my opinion it was some Mighty Big Shoes to fill as Naughty Dog took Crash to a very high place with Crash 3 (Warped). I was not very impressed with The Wrath of Cortex, as the game just did not play well or have much in the way of a story line, so lets take a look at Twinsanity to see if Travelers has improved any. The game starts off simply enough, with Crash digging around on the beach, while his sister CoCo is chasing a butterfly. Suddenly CoCo is shot by Cortex's ray gun, and the next thing we know, is CoCo, err Cortex is calling for Crash to help her and skips off into the woods, with our hero following closely behind, trying to help his sister out. It isn't until we reach the end of the jungle, that Crash finds out that he has been tricked, it wasn't CoCo after all, but his arch enemy, Cortex, who is bent on revenge for being frozen for three years in Antarctica. The first half of this game pretty much plays like the previous Crash games where Crash must navigate through a series of maze like worlds, smashing or avoiding all sorts of characters to reach the end and get a diamond or crystal as the reward. What makes this game different and unique is that in the later words, Crash and Cortez must work together as a team in order to defeat the new enemy who introduce themselves as "the evil twins". The evil twins are 2 parrot-looking creatures who are determined to get rid of Crash and Cortez. Also joining the fray in this game is Cortez's niece Nina, who was first introduced to us in Crash Nitro Cart, but in Twinsanity she has a greater role and prominent role.
Some of the newest, latest, characters in this game include Evil Crash, who appears on Twinsanity Island in the 10th dimension. Another new character is MechaBandicoot, who of course was created by Cortex to battle our hero, Rusty Walrus, who is a cook chasing Crash to fix for dinner. Then there is the Evil Twins who are the new main villains of this game.
