Keeping your children in clothes can get very pricey. It can get really pricey if you have more than one child at home. But there are ways that you can cut the cost down and still keep your child or children in clothes. Hand-Me-Downs
If you have more than one child this can work out pretty well for you. There are ways for you to do hand-me-downs right. First off if the article of clothing in question has stains or holes in it, do not give it to the next child in line. Your younger child should not be made to wear clothes that are in this kind of condition. Also hand-me-downs do not have to go from the older child to the younger child. I have found this one out when one of my sons started wearing bigger sizes than his older brother. So we reversed the hand-me-down process. When my son who was 3 at the time out grew his clothes the good ones went to his 4-½ year old brother. Also to prevent jealousy you still need to buy the child receiving the hand-me-downs some outfits of his or her own. If done right though this can be a great way to reduce some of the expenses of buying clothes for your children.
Clearance Sales
This works great no matter how many children you have. Hit the clearance racks and purchase items that your child or children need. Do not buy winter clothes that go on clearance at the start of spring and summer for the next winter season though. Reason why you do not want to do this is you do not know how your child is going to grow over the summer. You might wind up with clothes that are two small cause your child had a growth spurt If you bought these items big to account for any growing then you might have clothes that are to big cause your child did not grow any. So check the clearance racks close to the season you are buying for so that you know it will fit your child. Also check the clothes out to make sure there is nothing wrong with them. Some clothes hit the clearance racks cause of broken zippers, missing buttons or stains and holes.
