In today's market, it has become more and more difficult to remain competitive without outsourcing IT projects. Because of the relatively high labor costs in the US many businesses and corporations cannot afford to compete with other businesses without outsourcing their IT operations overseas. In the end, this makes perfect economic sense, as it is taking skilled people from the industry of IT from overseas, and using their labor whilst paying them competitive market rates for their work. As well as providing them with jobs and above average payment, it allows very skilled workers to earn money, and businesses to profit more from the relatively cheap costs of labor. So you are probably asking how this applies to you as an individual. Well, it can benefit you whether you are a business owner, or a skilled worker overseas. You as a business owner get cheaper labor, and overseas workers get competitive salaries and employment. I will explain simple steps to IT outsourcing to overseas workers in this guide.
Firstly, you must determine what work can be carried out overseas and what work must be undertaken by you (or your workers) locally. Let's look at an example here to illustrate this point; you own a website design company that consults with clients to produce professional website design solutions for their ecommerce sites. Some of this work has to be carried out locally; going to see clients, getting specifications for their needs, ect. But then some of it can be outsourced: you may want to outsource the coding of the website. Once you have developed some kind of plan of what you can carry out yourself and what can be outsourced, you then need to develop a cost analysis.
With your established business, work out how much it is costing you for various IT solutions. For example, you may have found that hiring PHP coders locally charge $30 an hour, but overseas they may only charge $10 an hour. Inversely, you may be competent in graphic design, so it is not cost effective to pay someone to do it when you can do it yourself - providing that no other higher paying work is available for you.
