According to information published in BJU International urology journal, there is a new treatment for men with premature ejaculation problems. No medication is needed. No surgery required. The solution resides in an aerosol spray bottle.

The product is called TEMPE. It is an acronym for "topical eutectic mixture for premature ejaculation". It is manufactured by Plethora Solutions Ltd. London, who also funded the research. It contains the active ingredients lidocaine and prilocaine. Both are anesthetics. TEMPE is not available yet to the public.

Premature ejaculation is the most common sexual complaint between both men and couples. The most complaints are from inexperienced, young males or couples.

Premature ejaculation isn't diagnosed by the time it takes to ejaculate. Rather it is considered a problem when it is a chronic and persistent occurrence consisting of ejaculation with little stimulation before or shortly after penetration, or before a man wishes to ejaculate.

Researchers in Europe have completed a Phase 2 study involving 54 men aged 18 to 75 years old with premature ejaculation problems. The men were all heterosexual and in monogamous relationships of at least three months. The participants in the study reported ejaculating, on average, in a minute or less after penetration. 20 TEMPE users and 23 placebo users completed the study.

Some of the men received the topical anesthetic spray that was to be sprayed onto the tip of the penis fifteen minutes before sexual intercourse. The rest of the study participants received a placebo spray. Each participant tested their spray four times and used a stopwatch to time the moment from penetration to ejaculation.
