Top Ten Suberbowl Commercials

My Picks and Their Summaries

Super bowl commercials seemed to taper off at the end of the game - but that may have just been because the game actually got interesting. As always, they promised a fun and entertaining time, with a new, added twist: there were a few 3D commercials thrown in! My friend had found 3d glasses somewhere - enough for the entire party, so we spent our few minutes of 3D action blissfully. Luckily, the 3D didn't detract too much from the normal viewing of the commercial - because I peeked a few times.

The Budweiser commercials were probably the most consistently amusing commercials during the Superbowl, across the board. Bud has a tradition of funny commercials - with the Clydesdale horses at the center of their campaign, as well as their previous foray into the frogs and lizards. So which commercials hit my top ten?

Number 10 - Bud Clydesdale In Love

This commercial was so adorable, I'll forgive the fact that it was for beer. It featured a Bud Clydesdale Horse falling in love with "Daisy," a circus horse. She is taken away from him, and the Bud horse races through the streets, through water and over the grand canyon, itself, to get to her. Ending line? One of the circus workers commenting that he didn't even know Daisy was in love.

Number 9 - Conan's Crossdressing Mistake

Conan should never, ever wear that outfit again. I know the man has a sense of humor, and everyone famous has to do a commercial at some point, but damn! I can't even talk about it.

Number 8 - Immigrating Horse?

This one also touched my heart in a quirky way. It featured "Jake," another Clydesdale, going through what his great grandfather horse did to get here - immigrated, failed at several jobs (including racing, and piano moving) - all so he could be bred. And, presumably, become a bud horse.

Number 7 - The Moose's Rear End

Man walks into his office and sits down. Underneath a moose's rear end. The head is through the wall, in a superior's office, hanging. Careerbuilder was right: It's time for that man to get a new job.

Number 6 - Maybe You Should Get A Dog

  • Budweiser commercials were among some of the best of the commercials this year.
  • 2009 Superbowl was worth the game AND the commercials.
