Worldwide Child Porn Ring Uncovered in Austria

According to Yahoo.com, a huge child pornography ring has been uncovered by the Austrian authorities. The ring involves more than 2,360 suspects that come from 77 countries, including hundreds form the United States. These suspects paid to view videos of young children being sexually abused.

In all, about 600 of the suspects are from United States, about 400 people from Germany, and France is investigating about 100. Investigators said that the images showed the "worst kind of child sexual abuse."

Also saying that it showed girls being raped and screams of pain and terror can be heard. Although initial reports were ages ranging from less than a year old to fourteen years old. It was later stated that no infants were seen in the videos. The video does show both young girls and boys.

The investigation began in July when a man working for an Internet file hosting service alerted the Interior Ministry in Vienna to some pornographic material found during a routine check. He blocked the access to the video and then kept a log of the I.P. addresses that continued to try to download the video. He then turned these addresses over to authorities. In a 24 hour period, investigators recorded over 8,000 hits from more than 2,000 different computers.

No arrests have been made in the investigation as of today, though they are to be expected soon.
