David McCallum

An Interesting Life During an Interesting Time

3
David McCallum burst onto the television screen as Illya Kuryakin who together with Napoleon Solo (Robert Vaughn) save the world each week from the evils of Thrush. Though it was Vaughn that was the cool one and a known ladies man about Holllywood it was the blond McCallum that had the really cool european name Illya Kuryakin.

I can still remember the day I got my Man from U.N.C.L.E. breifcase. Loaded to the brim with secret gadgets lhe lastest techno-weapon and some type of a spy glass to use with a decoder of some sort. All I needed to know was the special trigger on the case handle in case I had to shoot my way past a terrorist or another spy.

David's latest role as a medical examiner seems to be another perfect fit to our somewhat aged european spy model from the 60's. It's almost like ...what else would he be doing?

One tiny little part of David's childhood had an interesting imprint on future music as well. You see David's father was a very accommlished violinist and one of David's childhood friends stopped by one day and while watching the violin being played got a great idea.

The other little boy was a very young Jimmy Page who later went on to use a violin bow on a guitar for some freaky effects during songs such as "Dazed and Confused." Just an interesting little tidbit about lifes crazy chance encounters.
