Usually, I don't write on Content Producer's topics. Not because I don't find them interesting, I'm just one of those people who likes to write about what I want to write about. My mother always said I was stubborn. I let this message sit in my box for almost two weeks before I even gave it much thought. But, writing on this topic changed my life in the following small ways:
1. Life Inventory: Usually, when I sit down to write, I know what I'm going to write about. I keep a list of topics in a file on my computer and simply refer to it and get going.
This series gave me pause though . I started to take "life inventory," eg, what has changed my life, and in what ways. Once I started to really think, ideas started to roll. And you know what? It pulled memories and emotions out of me that I'd forgotten, buried and/or not realized were there.
This indeed must be why the pen is mightier than the sword. It's not the pen so much, but the thought it takes to get the words to flow from the pen.
I remembered why I love my little sister so much, the pain of my parents death - and the lessons it taught me, why I love being a small business owner, what I like and dislike about owning a home. All of these are articles I wrote on this series.
So, thank you to whomever came up with this idea. Some enterprising writer with far greater talent than I could easily turn it into a best-selling novel, I'm sure.
2. A Different Kind of Writer: One thing I always wish I could be is funnier in my writing. You know how some people are just funny with their words - without even trying. My sister, who writes fiction, has that gift.
She can move you to tears or make you belly laugh - all in one sentence. A gift indeed (I'm trying ot get her to stick to one project long enough to finish and submit to a publisher).
Well, reading back through some of my articles in this series made me laugh. Now, no one else may laugh, but I thought, "Hmmm, you can capture your funny side on paper. It just has to be something you're passionate about."
