1. Pictures
People want to see a real person behind the words. If you show a picture of the person who wrote the testimonial this will go a long way towards authenticity.
2. Audio
Anyone can hide behind words. If you want to make your testimonials believable have the person call you on the phone and record it or have them leave a message on an answering machine. Unless you're a very good actor, it's hard to fake sincerity. Having a spoken testimonial will give people a sense of reassurance.
3. Video
It combines visuals and audio together and makes a testimonial all the more real. With a picture you really can't tell whether or not someone just took the picture off the Internet, and with audio you can't tell whether or not the person is reading from a pre written script.
4. Postcards and Letters
Having people send a letter or a post card will prove to the people that view it that it isn't a fake. No person would really take the time to write up a fake letter or make a postcard
5. Added Information
Ask people to include little bit about themselves with their testimonial. You could just have them answer some questions like age, occupation, hobbies, and favorite quote, etc. This will make your testimonials more entertaining to read.
