Light cuts through the Dark like lightning. The blinding light hits my eyes. I blink...once...twice. The Dark creeps back in the radiance of the Light. It is almost gone now, but still it lingers in the corners of the room...the room of my mind. The Light is so bright and so beautiful. It grows and pulsates with life. I am overwhelmed by peace and warmth. I am drawn toward that wonderful feeling. I want it to last forever and in my greed I draw closer. Then I am hot...burning. The pain shoots through my body. I pray for the Light to leave. The Dark is my world. The Light grows brighter in resistance, then dims. The Dark surrounds me. The Light is now nothing but a flickering candle getting smaller. Then the Light goes out. The Dark is my solace and I bathe in its essence. I heal slowly through the years, but my heart still carries the scars of the burning flame that the Light carried within.
