Anna Nicole Smith Dead at Age 39

Anna Nicole Smith, well-known in the tabloids, has died today. The former Playboy centerfold at the heart of so many public disputes and scandals has died at 39 years old.

Making her name known throughout the world from her Guess jeans ad spots and appearances in Playboy, Anna Nicole was found unresponsive at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino and was rushed to the hospital.

Anna Nicole Smith has been plagued with tragedy in recent years. She was married to billionaire J. Howard Marshall II in 1994. Marshall died about a year later, and Anna Nicole Smith went all the way to the Supreme Court for control of her husband's fortune. Her 20-year-old son died suddenly days after the birth of her daughter. Recent legal woes involve a paternity suit over her new daughter and a lawsuit filed only this week against her and TrimSpa.

Her cause of death is unknown and under investigation. An autopsy will be performed Friday.
