The Modern Housewife and Her Vigorous Routine

The concept of a compulsory weekly holiday drew its inspiration from the biblical account of how God created the world in six days and rested on Sunday, is a matter of speculation. But most notably excluded from any such consideration is the work of a housewife. Life of a woman has never been easy. It keeps on changing with every new step of life. It undergoes a big change when she is married.

Now instead of living with her parents, she has to manage the entire house by herself. She's supposed to handle everything herself; right from cooking food to washing clothes, just about everything. Housework is trying and often thankless. She has to look after the kids, constantly answering their requests and demands and doing the chores around the house. In this process of looking after the family, day in and day out, when at any moment she collects herself and takes out a moment to have a glance at herself; she realizes that somewhere in all this she has lost her identity, lost herself. She feels as if beyond a wife and a mother she does not exist at all.

Looking after the family is always on top of her priority list but she also has some duties towards herself, this is what she tends to forget. It is said that women are more independent and happy today. But this holds true mostly in case of working women only. Things haven't changed much for a housewife. Her life continues to move on the same track. If she continues to live like this, she is at a risk of getting caught in the web of various ailments like depression and nervous disorders. And if she keeps sinking in these blues, she stands to lose her self-confidence as well. There's a need to change this monotonous routine in order to make her life a bit enjoyable. The idea of giving the housewife a day off is an interesting one. If she takes this day off, she can utilize it to take up the activities she likes. She truly deserves this time off, as it will be only a day for her. She'll be able to sort of recharge herself in a way through this rest day.
