What Can Singles Do on a Day for Couples?

St. Valentine's Day is generally a day for couples to celebrate; leaving those of us who are single out in the dark. Just because couples are out having fun doesn't mean we singles aren't
allowed. Now that Christmas is over, many people focus on Valentine's Day next (aside from the new year). Some couples begin planning special surprises for each other. But those who are single tend to be as I said, left out. Here are some ideas from my experiences to make Valentine's Day fun for singles.

Guys; if you have any single gal friends, do something special for her, like buy her a flower. A couple guy friends in college came down to my room and sang "Hero" to my roommate and I. One played the guitar, another bongos, and the third, well he drummed on his books. But it was a sweet idea for our guy friends to do for us. Girls, i know this may sound a little childlike, but hand out those Valentine's we got as kids. It brings back the fun in spreading the cheer and love we have for our friends. Who says Valentine's Day has to be a celebration of romantic love?

Girl's or Guys night out: Grab your gals (or guys), get all dolled up and looking hot and go out with your friends. Go dancing and just have fun. Enjoy being single and have single guys checking you out and offering to buy drinks. You're single so you can flirt with all the other hot singles out having a blast. Gals can spend the day shopping or getting your hair or nails done. Make a day of it and celebrate being single.

Movie Marathon: Gather your single friends together and have a movie marathon. Rent a whole bunch of movies; but not a whole lot of chick flicks that focus on love and coupledom. Enjoy the company of your friends. You could get the romantic movies and make fun of how cheesy it is.

Game Night: This is always a fun one to do with friends. Break out those cards and board games, even the ones from childhood like Candyland. Call your friends and have a blast. The childhood games can help remind you of how easy it was to have fun. You can have some friendly competition with your pals, maybe even get a little battle of the sexes going. If you have it, break out twister and just laugh with those who matter most.

  • Just because the day is for couples doesn't mean singles can't have fun
