Top 10 2009 MLB Fantasy Baseball Sleepers
This is my 2009 list of MLB Fantasy Sleepers. These are not players who you do not expect to play, or retired players, or someone currently in the minors that may get a call to the big leagues sometime in the season. These are current MLB players that are not expected to be big factors when it comes to fantasy baseball. I am distinguishing undervalued from sleepers due to the ribbing I have received in past years. Look for my overvalued and undervalued lists as well. Here are the top 10 sleepers for the 2009 MLB Fantasy baseball season.
#10. Sean Gallagher- SP Oakland Athletics
Gallagher was traded by the Chicago Cubs in the middle of the 2008 season to the Oakland A's. With the A's last season he went 2-3 in 11 starts with a 5.88 ERA. Although those numbers don't look impressive, Gallagher managed 54K's to 36 walks and is due for a big season. Gallagher has 21 career starts with a 5-7 win-loss record. He hasn't really been able to settle in to a rotation for an entire season. He should be the third starter in the A's rotation and should pick up a decent amount of wins with an ERA hovering around 4.00. Gallagher would be a solid last round picks to help out your teams pitching staff.
#9. Brandon Inge- 3B Detroit Tigers
Inge had lost his starting position to Miguel Cabrera and came off the bench most of the year in 2008. Inge took over the catcher role when Pudge Rodriguez was traded to New York. I know what you're saying about his low numbers, but there is good news. This year Brandon Inge will be eligible at C, 3B, OF. Inge now has the starting job at third base and should be able to contribute consistent numbers. For those of you who are fantasy baseball regulars, you know how hard it is to find a decent hitting catcher. Expect Inge to go very late in drafts if not at all, but if he's on the board at the end of your draft, take him.
