Surprise, Surprise, You're Having a Baby

People may be "surprised" to find out that half of the babies born are not planned, but are "surprises." If you found out that you are going to have a baby don't worry, nature allows a mother a whole nine months to figure out what it is that she needs to do. Once a woman finds out that
she is pregnant there is a lot to think about. One of the first things that you will think about is how to tell friends and family. This isn't always an easy decision, sometimes people respond negatively to an unplanned baby. By keeping a positive outlook on the situation you will help the people you tell to do the same. Something that you may be worried about is how you can possibly afford all that you will need for a baby. Surprisingly having a baby can be a lot less expensive then you are led to believe by the commercialism that comes with having a baby. One of the biggest things that you will think about a lot during your pregnancy is if you are ready for such a responsibility. With the many things that you need to do to prepare for a baby it definitely helps to start getting things together as soon as possible.

First of all, in order to take care of the baby, a mother needs to take good care of herself. It may not feel like it but there is so much that you as a new mom for your baby while he or she is in the womb. Eating right is the key during pregnancy, nutrition is so very important. There are certain foods that are essential for your baby's development. Appropriate exercise and the proper amount of rest needed is crucial as well. Something that people may forget is how important it is to be in a good head space and have a good attitude. As stressful as it can get for the mom-to-be, staying positive and doing things that make her happy help the baby from being too stressed out in the womb.

What a great article. I've not been pregnant . . . and it was a blessing from God now that I didn't get pregnant with my exboyfriend (though when I was with him, I thought differently . . . now I wonder how I could have wanted to be with him or have children with him!)

I wish I had read this when I unexpectantly got pregnant with my first. Great article!

I enjoyed this article. I'll never forget the first, second and third time I heard those words. LOL you really brought it back. I haven't thought about that in years.

Great article. Although I already have plenty of children and don't plan on having anymore, I still enjoyed reading the piece. It helped me remember what I was going through during pregnancy and how much I enjoyed it. While I do miss feeling a baby moving around inside me and the feeling of creating something special, I doubt it will be something I'll have the pleasure of experiencing again. :)

I enjoyed this article. Both of my children were unexpected but I can't think of a better suprise to get! I agree with LuAnn's statements above that co-sleeping, breastfeeding and other natural choices are also cost effective.

My grandparents tell the story of their kids. They planned the first two and the second two were surprises. My grandpa used to say, "We named our kids David, Diane, Debra, and Dinah. If we have another we're going to name it Dammit!" Good article!

Good article! Both of mine were unplanned and I remember the shock and panic of trying to get everything in order.

lol.. Even when a baby is planned a lot of mothers-to-be go through the same "panic" feelings.. My kids are 7 years apart. The first one wasn't planned, the second one was. I remember finding out the second time I was pregnant and I started to freak.. "What did I do?" LOL
