Dead Kennedy's

Fresh Fruit for Rotting Vegetables

One of the strange, addicting qualities of the punk rock genre is its ability to constantly invoke some sort of emotion in the minds of its' audiences. Be it the rock of the guitar, the rhythm of the drums, or the lull of the bass, punk rock has made such a name for itself that it, in
fact, created a new genre for itself known commonly today as simply the Punk Rock genre. The artists of this community tend to fight the norm, avenge the wrongfully judged, and pursue a life otherwise thought of as "less than ordinary". Punks are known for their "outlandish" ideals and heresy estimations, all of which can easily be seen in the lyrics of the said artist. Green Day brought out its' American Idiot, John Lennon created Imagine. Bob Dylan ingeniously created what we know as Infidels, while The Clash came out with London Calling. Now it's time we give notice to old ideas made new through the lyrics of the Dead Kennedy's album Fresh Fruit For Rotting Vegetables.

Above all other artists in the genre today, the Dead Kennedy's are definitely one of the type of sorts to keep an eye out for. Granted there are those who oppose this genre avidly and refuse to partake in the listening of any of its choices of artists. For those who do enjoy an occasional punk rock riff based on pure affinity, however, the album Fresh Fruit For Rotting Vegetables, by the Dead Kennedy's, is definitely something to pick up and savor. Not only does this album have the ability to get random body parts in motion, but it also manages to intrigue the mind with "hidden" political jargon enforcing a new mandate, or at least one new to society, old to punk culture: that of the anti-authority populous.

Kill the Poor - "Efficiency and progress are our's once more,

now that we have the neutron bomb.

It's nice and quick and clean and gets things done,

away with excess enemy but no less value to property.

No sense in war, but perfect sense at home.

Gonna kill, kill, kill the poor TONIGHT!"
