BIRMINGHAM-Though perhaps unknown to the CP, the article New Candy Drug Hits West Coast contains insinuations and falsities that actually hamper the prevention of the ongoing spread of substance abuse. The article is obviously well researched, investigated, and well written by a very talented writer, and the misinformation found there certainly is not the fault of the author. Within the misperceived "underworld" of drug addiction, there are many truthful facts concerning health, personality changes, overdose, neglect, the breakdown of priorities, alienation, and withdrawal. Still, no matter how shocking these truths are, they eventually lose their vigor when grouped along with the false and sometimes even preposterous claims from both authorities and health care workers fighting within the "War on Drugs."

In view of that, let's get one thing straight: just because someone has dealt or is presently dealing drugs (although it is absolutely not a commendable nor legal act but still, to an addict, sometimes a necessary evil and therefore justifiable to them), this in no way whatsoever should ever imply that the dealer is selling drugs to children. Having been a methamphetamine dealer before, and being enormously experienced in that "field," if you will, I can be considered one who can relay the facts as they truly are. Yet, the reality that I have sold drugs before does not make my statements biased to any degree, due to having emerged triumphant from the crippling despair of drug abuse and the entrapping methods used to support a habit, especially one which many victims unfortunately find too difficult to lay down.

Takeaways
  • $475-$550 for a quarter-ounce of methamphetamine....do you think kids can afford it?
  • Anyone who actually does consciously market it toward kids is a financial imbecile.
  • There is a larger group of dealers who would see that kind of horrendous act as being unforgivable.
Did You Know?
People who become addicted to drugs and then find a way to support their habits through dealing are common folks, just like you.

This is commical...you expect me to believe that there is some sort of ethics code between meth dealers; where if they find a dealer is selling to kids they source cuts them off? Sorry but I wasnt born yesterday

Nin- we must've posted those comments at the same time becauseI didn't see yours :) Yes, I agree with your mother.... you should write about it, most definitely. If you aren't committed to a book-lenth project, just write a few prose articles and get a feel for it :)

Thank you, Judy! That's noteworthy, coming from a five-star writer, herself :)

Jeanne, Spokane is at least 10 years behind the times. My mom keeps urging me to write a book about my time and experiences up there. She swears it would be a bestseller. Because NO ONE would believe half the shit I have seen and been through living there. Don't forget it was the Gypsy Jokers MC that started the production and distribution back in the 80's at least in the NW.

Wow, Nini! I wonder why the difference? There are, of course, skttered instances of people's kids and the detrimental loss there, but manufacturing a drug with the sole marketing intent of hooking children I have yet to hear any proof on. That's not o say that there is none in some part of te country, but when I was dealing, oh about 6 or so years ago, you would be labeled and cut-off from suppliers, etc. for dealing to kids, much less marketing toward their group!

Jeanne, again fantastic! I must tell you that in Spokane WA it is much different! They have NO conscience up there honey. They make the shit in their bathtubs, sell to kids and the whole lot. I know entire families that have been ravaged and affected by production and distribution of this horrible scourge. In fact I was just told the other day that a LONG TIME friend of mine was just released from prison (several years) for his lab and lost his kids behind it. Kids he fought his EX so hard for and lost eventually.

Nothing speaks truer than experience. Good job and thanks for keeping the record straight.
