The 24 Hour "News" Networks Give You Round the Clock Coverage of Anna Nicole and Crazy Astronauts Instead of Reporting How Pentagon Admits Iraq Intelligence was Cooked

So you've been following that whole Anna Nicole Smith story, right? And you can't even remember how many times you've heard that the crazy astronaut lady was wearing diapers, can you? Admittedly, these are stories of significant national importance that affects your daily life, and it's certainly understandable why CNN, Fox, MSNBC and the boys and girls who want to become journalists when they grow up are paying so much attention to these stories. What is less understandable is why I have yet to see a SINGLE substantiver report about how Acting Inspector General Thomas Gimble ambled up to the Senate this week and informed the Armed Services Committee that those working under Pentagon policy chief Douglas Feith took ''inappropriate'' actions in advancing conclusions on al-Qaida connections not backed up by the nation's intelligence agencies."

Can you say "smoking gun"?

There are those of us who have known since well before Colin Powell had his credibility surgically removed by taking Pres. Bush's lies up to the United Nations that there was absolutely no intelligence to justify Pres. Bush's lies about nuclear weapons in Iraq and Saddam Hussein's ties to al-Qaida. And there are people who will read this and leave a comment along the lines of, "Old news, Tim, doesn't mean a thing." And for those who are STILL supporting Pres. Bush at this late stage, perhaps it doesn't mean thing. But then, nothing ever will. Remember, there are still people around who thought Hitler got a raw deal.

Great article, but did you say something about people who were still supporting Pres. Bush.....? Are those, those people who live under rocks? I've heard about those.

Yes...people talk about "supporting the troops" Let's support them with a real debate about real topics that really affect them...

I couldn't agree with you more about the distortion in our news. One thing that has irritated me to no end is the total ignoring of the stock-backdating story, which concerns no less than 190 companies (including Apple, Home Depot, and several large HMO companies) under suspicion. This is "boring news" yet I believe it to be a bigger scandal than Enron! The problem is the public not speaking up. Even the major news networks are turning into "ET" and "Extra" offshoots, unfortunately.
