The Top 20 Beatles Songs

In My Opinion, These Are the Best of the Best of the Beatles

I could be here all day talking about the Beatles and why I am such a huge fan. But for the sake of time, let's just say that for me, there is never a time when I cannot find that perfect Beatles song no matter what the mood is. The Beatles and their wonderful music have been there for me
through tough times, happy times, bored times, sad times, and humorous times. I realize that I was not even in existence when these guys hit the big time, but great music is timeless. I can't really say when I first got hooked on The Beatles.

I remember that I was probably the only one of my friends at the time that really liked them, and as time went on, my appreciation for the guys grew like a weed. Not only are their lyrics great, but their instrumentals just blow me away. They have experimented with sounds that no one else had dared to go or even thought possible. The end result was nothing short of brilliance.

Then, they also have their catchy tunes with just a few basic chords. Even then, there was just something about these guys that made almost whatever they did seem magical. They just had that "it" factor when they were together. That is something that so many bands want, but very few have. Anyhow, without further ado, here is my list of what I consider the top 20 Beatles song of all times, along with some honorable mentions.

No. 20 - Blackbird - Paul sings lead on this, and does great as usual. The song is very simple and so mellow (an acoustic guitar and some tapping), but the lyrics are wonderful and the song is amazing.

No. 19 - And Your Bird Can Sing - WONDERFUL guitar solo by George, and that pretty much makes the whole song go round. John did a good job on vocals and once again had people scrambling to figure out just what he meant. I think that the song represents something simple : Material things aren't everything and really don't amount to much ( You tell me that you've got everything you've wanted/And your bird can sing/But you don't get me/You don't get me ). It may be just my take on it, but I think people bent the meaning of this song out of shape when really it was quite simple. Great tune.

Loved your list. Nice picks, however, leaving out 'Yesterday', the most re-recorded song of all time, is a mis-step. I also love 'Nowhere Man','Something', and 'Revolution.' To disagree, 'You know my name, Look up the number.'

Great list, you have good taste. I would remove "come together" and replace it with "dear prudence". I would probably remove "Sgt. Peppers" as well, and put something from the white album instead.

Lucy in the Sky with Dymonds makes perfect sence. It's LSD like the drug. And it just keeps talking about like the way drugs trip you out and stuff. Alot of the Beatles songs are about drugs, like "got to get you into my life".

George doesn't get down on While My Guitar Gently Weeps, it was a lot of Clapton...

Thanks guys for listing some of your favorites. It is always nice to see other Beatles fans and read which songs they would put in their top. I'd love to see some more top Beatles lists done where you put your "own" personal favorites.

No mention of "Revolution" (single verison)? Come on, that song has everything, including your man Lennon at one of his best moments...
