Lost Producers Ask Fans What Animal Really Is

Producers of the ABC hit television show Lost is now asking the audience inside the Yahoo Answers community, "What do you believe the monster in Lost really is?" While there has been only five days so far for fans to give their input, there
Lost Producers Ask Fans What Animal Really Is
is an amazing 8,001 answers so far and there is still eight days left to answer.

The Lost television series has been described by fans as being so full of mystery that only the Powers that Be knows what is really going on. So why are the producers asking? Is it because they just want to see how well they have done at leaving the clues? Or are the producers hoping that one of the answers is going to hit a perfect chord and solve their "We don't know what it is either" problem?

Either way, the answers left from the Yahoo Answers community is quite a testimony to the passion that Lost followers have. Although the Lost television show hasn't become as legendary as the X-files yet, the passion that the fans have spoken with seems to indicate that Lost is their heart and soul. Another testimony to the show is the wide and diverse audience that is loyal to the show.

The majority of responses can be labeled as 'in the mind' or 'actual living creature'. There is innumerable responses that state the creature is really negative emotions, like hate or revenge, that has taken a semi-spiritual body. Another large segment in the 'in the mind' class is those that believe the animal to be fear. Whatever you fear will come to hunt you down is what one die-hard Lost fan has theorized. Another Answers user feels that the animal is a being that 'feeds on fear but can't possess a corporeal body'.

The answers of the 'actual living creature' perspective is widely varied. Some Lost fans have guessed that the creature is something created in a lab, others surmise that it is an evolutional change that we are unfamiliar with.

Of course, with any fantasy or fiction story there is to be a certain amount of unrealistic ideas being facts. One Answer user thought perhaps the creature was mechanical and that the island was a government testing ground of some sort. Quite a few says the whole place is Limbo and that the animal is a test to be passed.

I think that in the final episode they face the 'monster' and find out it's a cute little puppy. But it talks and it's only form of dialogue is Arnold movies. Ok I have no idea where I am going with this but great article idea.

I've personally always thought Lost's mystery was based in Eastern religions and karma; especially when you take into account the centrality of the whole "Dharma" thing, which is HUGE in this religious sphere. Each of the characters, in my own analysis, could be paired well with one of the fundamental principles (I had all this nicely typed up somewhere, but I think it got deleted; aw, shucks)-- especially Michael, Sawyer, Kate, and Hurley.

Great question and there are actually some really good answers on the Yahoo site. Anyone feel like posting their own theories here for the AC community?
