There are lots of people who go to jail or prison for the crimes they have committed. Some crimes are worse than others of course. But have you ever wondered if prison really changed these people's lives for the better? Well I have proof that it can. My husband went to prison when he was 26 years old for robbing a music store. He was on crack really bad and needed the money to buy his drugs so he broke into a music store and stole some of the instruments so he could sell them to provide his drug habit. He didn't hurt anyone. The store was closed for the night. He was so heavily addicted on crack that he would have sold his mother for some. Well that very same night, right before he broke in, someone else just got done robbing the place. He didn't see this person but this person saw him and went to the police and told on him. They did this so they wouldn't get in trouble for doing the exact same thing. Since this person told on him the police were looking for him and my husband found out. So my father-n-law talked my husband into turning himself in.

My life is better now than before i did my time, but my 7 years also left me seriously screwed up in other ways. I did 7 years in prison, 1 in a halfway house, 6 months on an ankle bracelet and 5 years on parole, a total of 13 and a half years in the system. I violated parole twice for drugs, but never returned to doing robberies. You and my poor wife could start a support group, dude sounds like me when I'm using. Personally I think prison makes people worse in a majority of cases, and when people do get better, it's because of their own will to change. Prison culture seems to bring out the worst in a majority of prisoners.

my man is a complete differant person after being locked up in pelican bay prison for 20 months, he was a thieving, drugging, cheating boyfriend. when he got busted and went to prison he did not claim any affiliations he stayed to himself and did his time. when he was locked we kept in touch by mail and I was leary about his sincerity but hes been home 2 months, hes working is clean and sobber. Im very proud of him.

Rosa, I don't know much about the prison terms. But my husband got a lucky break because he almost got 15 years but took a plea bargain and only got 3. I agree that it could also change a persons life for the worst. My husband saw so much stuff in their and the stories he has told me was enough to keep me out of there, lol. Well that and the fact that I would never do anything to go to prison anyway. Thank you, Rosa I will tell him you are proud. Once he wakes up that is. Yeah I guess we all have a lot to say huh? Lol!

My dad is a correctional officer and the prison term really depends on the state, prosecuting attorney, the judge, and the crime. These all play a huge factor in how long a prison term is. If you still a certain amount then you get X amount of years added on the crime. So, yah he difiantly could have had this long of a term. I grew up around prisons and I do believe that it can change a persons life, sometimes for good and other for worst. I think that it really depends on the person and if they want to change. Oh, Whitetigress, the number only changes much higher if a couple of people click on or around the same number back to back and assuming that there wasn't another person clicking to downrate it. This is why it didn't go up like you thought it would. Sometimes when I give people a five it doesn't even move like I thought it should. Great article and tell your hubby that I am proud of him. (your not the only one who can be long winded on a comment.lol.)

The reason he got so long in prison was because he stole a bunch of expensive instruments. He did it so he could sell them and buy crack. It was his friend's son who robbed the place and snitched on him. He eventually got caught and told on my husband. I guess he figured if he was going down, so was my husband. After my husband went to prison he asked the cop's who told on him and they told him who it was. I don't know why the rating is the way it is on here. It's weird. When I rate you and my other friends it does the same thing. I don't understand it. :)

That was really good.I'm glad that things turned out so great for him,and you. That sounds like a long time for jail for just stealing.Did he ever find out who the other person was that stole before him and then told on him?How did he know that is what happened?I went to jail when I had my breakdown, but I was only in for 3 days.I was the only female in at the time thankfully.I don't know if going to jail made me change, but it sure made me want to try and not let depression and anger get the best of me again.
