Top Five Video Game Development Studios from Sony

Since the launch of the Playstation in 1995, Sony has quietly constructed the largest first-party development core in the gaming industry. They have done so via building new companies from the ground up, purchasing up and coming studios, and
partnering with established developers. Sony's studios span across the entire globe in places like the Europe, Japan and the United States. So which Sony developer is the best of the large group? Here are the top five of the best video game developers from Sony.

5. Insomniac Games

Games: Ratchet & Clank, Resistance, Spyro

Insomniac Games is the only second-party developer on the list. What makes this development studio special is their consistency. Insomniac Games releases one quality video game per year since they started development. In an age where games are getting longer to developed (in fact, every other development studios on the list except for Naughty Dog still hasn't release a full blown Playstation 3 title yet), Insomniac Games is an essential partnership for Sony.

4. Polyphony Digital

Games: Gran Turismo, Omega Boost

Sony's best-selling franchise is Gran Turismo with over 50 million copies shipped across the Playstation, Playstation 2 and Playstation 3 platforms. So what separate this racing series from others? Polyphony Digital composes of a bunch of car enthusiasts. They managed to craft even the smallest of details in their cars and track design. As a result, you won't find a more realistic racing game than Gran Turismo thanks to this excellent development studio.

3. Sony Computer Entertainment Santa Monica Studio

Games: God of War, Twisted Metal, Warhawk

Sony Computer Entertainment Santa Monica Studio is an emerging Sony development studio that was combined from several smaller ones. Therefore, their profile of titles is a lot more diverse than other Sony development studios. Not to mention that they are also leading the way towards the Playstation Network with small downloadable games. Sony's initiative for these types of games may have fell by the wayside without the help of Sony Computer Entertainment Santa Monica Studio.

2. Naughty Dog

This list was going really well.......until i saw Team Ico at no.1 when they shouldn't be on this list at all. Here's what the list should look like: 5 - Insomniac 4 - Sony Santa Monica 3 - Media Molecule (Much more obvious choice than Team Ico) 2 - Polyphony Digital 1 - Naughty Dog However Naughty Dog should lose points if they fail to announce a new Jak & Daxter game for the PS3 before the end of the year........

I agree with the list for the most part. If we were talking first party only, then I'd switch Zipper in for the end (SOCOM series rocks!) I couldn't agree more with Team ICO being #1, though. Truly gaming marvels in my opinion.

half the people cant stand their two games, especially SOTC which was a failure in game design, only concept was decent.
