Texas is not the dry expanse that Dallas watchers would see, night after night. The state is home to magnificent canyons, sparkling streams and rivers, and of course, it great Gulf Coastal area. Retiring to a Texas planned community has some distinct advantages. Being part of a community means that a lot of amenities and services will be available to property owners. Something else to consider is that Texas is one of the 5 or 6 states which does not have an income tax, meaning that residents will get to keep more of their hard-earned money from income than in most other states. Locations in the middle region or in the south of the state will offer a mild climate in the winter and make golf and tennis sports that can be played almost year-round. Even properties not in planned communities can be very good buys for vacation properties.

Avocet is a planned coastal community on the banks of the Bolivar Peninsula and is one of the few affordable planned communities left on the Gulf Coast. They have four neighborhoods with beautiful landscaping, lakes, greenbelts, a magnificent beach club and views of the Gulf. The town center village makes shopping convenient with a restaurant, coffee shop and a lot of other convenience services. Contact them for information on pricing and to ask questions.
