Public transportation is a much- utilized commodity in the Hartford, Connecticut area. CT Transit, which is the State of Connecticut Department of Transportation- owned local bus- service provider, operates over thirty local and twelve express bus routes. serving twenty- six towns in the Capital Region. Many, if not most of these bus routes originate in downtown Hartford, Connecticut and wind their way through most of the suburban towns surrounding Hartford, Connecticut.

One of the most- utilized local bus routes is the "A", or Asylum Avenue/ Hillside Avenue route. This bus line, which is especially popular with West Hartford, Ct commuters, runs outbound buses from the southern end of the city, all of the way to the Cigna Insurance Company complex, located in neighboring Bloomfield, Connecticut on weekdays. The "A", Asylum Ave/ Hillside Ave bus route starts at Haddam Street and Mountain Street, near Cedar Hill Cemetery and travels along Hillside Ave, Park Terrace and Capitol Avenue, before reaching Main Street and downtown Hartford, Connecticut.

From downtown Hartford, the "A" bus follows Asylum St to Asylum Ave in West Hartford. Along the way, the "A" bus passes such notable spots as the Hartford Civic Center, Union Station, the Hartford Insurance Group, Saint Francis Hospital, Elizabeth Park, Saint Joseph College and a branch of the University of Connecticut. At the intersection of North Main St and Asylum Ave in West Hartford, Ct, the "A" bus turns north and continues past the Bishops Corner shopping area, into Bloomfield, Ct ending at the Cigna complex, South Building.

Hi there, found this information useful, iam moving in to hartford and have never travelled by bus anywhere. Could you please tell me how to travel from 967 asylum avenue to 200 folly brook drive (wethersfield) ? I have my office in wethersfield . So i wud like to reach there at 8am...could u tell me which all buses I shud be taking to do this? and also the return trip from wethersfield to asylum avenue? I appreciate your help in advance.
