Hair Color: Salon Vs. At Home Kits
Salon services are very expensive and time consuming. At home kits offer an easier and less costly alternative to a salon visit. When you decide to color your hair the first question you ask yourself is what color you want to go to. The next is if you want to go to a salon or do it home.
Let's compare the pros and cons of both of your choices and determine which way you should go. Also included are some tips for both procedures. Either way you are going to come out with a beautiful head of hair.
When going to a salon for a color change you should expect to pay at least $40.00. If you are going to high end salon you are going to be looking at about $200.00. I suggest only using a trusted salon. Before making your appointment, you should ask the stylist what their policy is on hair mishaps. Technically, the salon is not required to fix any mishaps free of charge unless it is a result of negligence of the stylist of salon. Most hair salons do repair problems to avoid bad publicity though it is important to check out their policy beforehand. Secondly, ask which of their stylists has the most coloring experience. You should not wash your hair the day before going since color adheres better to "dirty" hair. After arriving you should discuss the exact color that you want to achieve. Pictures are a great way to give the stylist a visual guide. If you are going more than 3 shades lighter than your current shade then you need to discuss the brassy color that can occur when going lighter. Salons do have a treatment that can remove brassiness. The pros of choosing the salon route is you can pretty much garuntee that you will have an even color that is as close to your chosen color. As noted before you also have the security of knowing that it will be fixed if something goes ary.
