Spiderman and His Amazing Valentines

Whether you are a current reader of the Spiderman comic books or watch the Spiderman movies you probably know all about Spiderman and the love of his life Mary Jane Watson. However, Mary Jane is not Peter's first love. Here is a look back at all of the Valentines of Spiderman and his secret identity Peter Parker.

Liz Allan - Liz Allan first appears in issue four of Amazing Spiderman. Liz Allan is a popular blonde classmate of Peter's. Peter Parker develops a crush on Liz Allan but Liz is dating the popular jock football player Flash Thompson. Like Flash, Liz Allan sees Peter Parker as a big geek. Later on in Amazing Spiderman Liz Allan starts to appreciate Peter's intelligence but by then he is already dating somebody else. Liz Allan ends up marrying Peter's friend Harry Osborn

Betty Brant - Peter Parker first meets Betty Brant while working at the Daily Bugle. Peter Parker does freelance photography for the Daily Bugle and Betty Brant is J. Jonah Jameson's personal secretary. Peter Parker and Betty Brant were very attracted to each other and started dating. Things turned for the worse when Betty's brother was accidentally killed during a fight between Spiderman and Dr. Octopus. Betty Brant blamed Spiderman but Peter Parker stood up for Spiderman since he is Spiderman. The two drifted apart and Betty Brant eventually married Ned Leeds.

Gwen Stacy - Gwen Stacy first appeared in Amazing Spiderman #31. Peter Parker and Gwen Stacy first met while they were undergraduates at Empire State University. Gwen Stacy made advances at Peter Parker immediately because she appreciated Peter's intelligence but he ignored them because he was too preoccupied with being Spiderman. At first Gwen Stacy felt insulted that Peter Parker always ignored her but eventually a romance developed and Gwen Stacy became Peter's first true love. Unfortunately Peter's alter-ego would be a problem again. Once again a close family member of his girlfriend's would be killed. During a battle between Spiderman and Dr. Octopus, Gwen Stacy's dad was killed by falling debris.
