Well Grammy night has come and gone. One of the winners was Mary J. Blige who led the nominations with a total of eight. She received an award for R&B song of the year for "Be without you". Blige also brought home two more awards tonight as well. She gave everyone a treat with a riveting performance that ended with a climax that was similar to a powerful southern church service. Carrie Underwood took home best female country vocal performance for "Jesus take the wheel". She made sure to include "Idol" creator Simeon Fuller for his help. This was a step in the right direction for Underwood since the last Idol contestant to win a Grammy which was Kelly Clarkson failed to properly thank the show for giving her the chance to prove that she was a performer in her own right.
Dixie Chicks brought home a few awards including Album of the year. They also won awards for their song "not ready to make nice'. While receiving their award, Natalie took what some view as a juvenile jab at the distaste people voiced for her past comments about the president. When receiving and award, it is considered bad manners to take shots at your past comments that have upset and angered your fans.
The "My Grammy" Contest ended tonight with Robin Troupe of Houston, Texas won and sung with Justin Timberlake. The "My Grammy Contest" had people competing for the chance to sing live on stage with Timberlake during the show. The final three had to wait till tonight to find out which on would be the lucky girl to stand on the Grammy stage and sing live in front of the world. The other choices were Africa Miranda from Alabama and Brenda Radney from Staten Island, NY.
The Police reunited and performed "Roxanne" for the crowd. Many are wondering if this means the return of the group and is it able to withstand the heat from the entertainment kitchen or will it be a temporary situation that will make us all remember when.
There were quite a few who were given lifetime achievement awards including The eagles. Carrie Underwood and Rascal Flatts joined forces to tackle the Eagles hit "Life in the Fast lane". Rascal Flatts also covered "Hotel California" as well.
