Battery Park City is on the southern end of Manhattan, right on the Hudson River. It was the home of the World Trade Center. Ever since the attacks of 2001, most of the units have been remodeled and there is new construction going on. Battery Park City is like a self-contained world of its own. It has its own shopping center, although for big shopping you have to go up town. There is a beautiful promenade right on the water for sitting on a warm summer evening. It is right by the financial district and an easy subway ride on the E train up town. Since you are downtown, the trains going up town in the morning are practically empty, everyone else is going the other way. And vice versa in the evening. It makes for a very pleasant trip. It is also the home of the Winter Garden Theater. It is also near Battery Park, one of the most historic places in Manhattan and where you get the ferry to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island.

As for real estate, there is only one option and that is a condo. As you can see from the examples below, there is a tremendous price range. Basically the more expensive units will be on a higher floor and facing the river. The views from the terraces at night are nothing short of spectacular, especially if you happen to have a view of the Statue of Liberty. Also, the size of the unit comes into play. The total number of rooms, not just the bedrooms. For instance, is the two bedroom unite a 4 or 5 room. A 5 room will have a dining room.

Before you begin to look at real estate, you need to give the neighborhood the once over and see if it fits you and your personality. Take a look at the various buildings, take in the river view, and if it feels right, then make the appointments to see the real estate.

As you can imagine, the buildings are all different in style depending on when they were built and the ones being constructed now are ultra modern.

These are the high and low end of the scale and there are a lot of choices in the middle for all size apartments.
