Greenpoint is a Brooklyn neighborhood to look at if you are looking for something that will increase in value. The waterfront in Greenpoint, unlike in neighboring Williansburg and other neighborhoods, is not yet developed for residential use, but it is going to be and once that happens, the real estate values will come up to those of its neighbors.

Greenpoint, Brooklyn is just over the border from Queens and can almost be considered a peninsula since there is water on three sides. The houses here are mostly from the 19th century. Once the new high rises and middle rises are built on the waterfront, they will add a new, and much more expensive dimension to Greenpoint. It is supposed to take 10 years for everything to be completed, but it will be done in stages and new buildings will become available as they are completed.

Greenpoint has its own shopping district along Manhattan Avenue, with shops small stores and plenty of ethnic restaurants. Greenpoint has a small town feel, a great family place. When the development is complete, there will be parks along the river, but there is a great park in Greenpoint already, Mc Carren Park.

Greenpoiint is a very convenient location. Just over the Palaski Bridge, is Long Island City and if you want to see how the waterfront will look when it is developed, take some time to visit Long island City. The Brooklyn Queens Expressway goes right over Meeker Avenue and makes it an easy drive to Manhattan or Long Island.

Take a look around Greenpoint before setting out to look at real estate. Make sure the neighborhood fits your style. IF possible, try and make a rush hour commute from Greenpoint, like a test run to see how long it takes to get to your work.

Then it is time to think real estate.
