Street Fighter 4 Release Date Hits; Looks to Be a Success on Xbox 360 Live

The Fourth Entry in the Street Fighter Games Seeks to Update the Franchise as Street Fighter IV is Released by Capcom

The Street Fighter 4 release date is now upon us, as Street Fighter IV went on sale at midnight on February 17th. Street Fighter 4 is the latest chapter, and highly anticipated follow-up to the Street Fighter gaming series. With an updated look at the brand name, and a move to some excellent graphics by many familiar characters, the hope is that a new generation of gaming fans will come to enjoy the Street Fighter games. Once a "must-have" game for the Super Nintendo, the Street Fighter series has long been extremely popular.

The Street Fighter gaming series really got its big break when Street Fighter 2 became not only one of the top selling games of all time, but when kids flocked to arcades to put quarters in the gaming machines. It brought in a new age of fighting games, and paved the way for a lot that followed, including the equally popular Mortal Kombat series of games. The premise to the Street Fighter games has always been pretty simple; the player chooses a character and goes through many one-on-one battles, with each opponent getting tougher, until the user is battling the final opponent to win the game.

With the updated version of Street Fighter 4, the characters and the environments of the game have been moved to a much cleaner and more stylized 3D presentation. Rather than the classic 2D perspective that had been popular "back in the day", this one gives the all-around feel that a lot of today's fighting games have championed. By bringing back many of the familiar characters from the past Street Fighter titles, gamers everywhere can enjoy re-living some of their video game glory on the new gaming systems.
