I've always loved dogs. I love all animals but because we lived in the city we only had dogs and cats. We had 4 Pugs and a couple of cats. One afternoon I got a call. It was an acquaintance of mine who hoped I would help. Her neighbor had a litter of Rottweiler puppies so she liked to peek through her fence and see the puppies and this time she saw something very disturbing. One of the puppies was lying near the garbage can, directly in the sun. She had flies all over her as she lay helplessly in the scorching Texas heat. Initially Robin thought the pup was dead but she saw it move a little. She couldn't go in the yard for fear of the Rottweilers and to this day I don't know why she did not call Animal Rescue. Instead, she had waited for the neighbor to come home only to find out he was not interested in treating the puppy. Apparently she had been bitten by one of the Rotts and had a gaping sore covered in flies and also maggots. She must have been laying there long enough for maggots to already be crawling in and out of her sore. She said the neighbor was hesitant to just 'give the 3 week old purebred away' so she offered him $50 but he went ahead and just let her take the pup. She was calling me to see if I would take her because she couldn't do it. I immediately said yes!
