I have loved music since I was a small child and realized even back then that music had a spirit attached to it. I remembered that whenever I would hear a certain song that was sad, it would make me reflect on things I was sad about and when I heard songs that were upbeat and full of positive lyrics it would instantly change my mood and I would start feeling encouraged.Music is certainly a spirit and that's why it's important that parents monitor closely what their children are listening to. You can not allow the wrong spirit to take root in your child's heart and mind. As adults we ourselves are still influenced by outward forces, so imagine the battle that your children and young people deal with daily. Although I love all music, I really only listen to inspirational and positive message music because I want to keep my mind and heart saturated with the Word of God.
Children are our next generation and God has given me a burden for them and their welfare. There are nights when I'll see the face of a child that I need to pray for and God will give me the words to speak or sometimes I'll simply pray in the spirit and let God do what only God can do. Jesus loves children so much that he rebuked his disciples for trying to keep them away. Jesus said, "Forbid them not to come unto to me, for such is the Kingdom of Heaven" All have to come to the Kingdom as little children desperately seeking a loving father.
I have had the wonderful privilege of leading praise and worship for young people through the years and it's always blessed me to impart what God gives me to the young people. The ironic thing is the fact that I never knew that it was a ministry, I just always knew I had a heart for children and everywhere I went children seem to be drawn to me like a magnet. It wasn't until a church leader asked me in 1998 to be a lead teacher in the children's church and initially I was a little apprehensive, because I had never taught children before, but I was obedient to the Spirit of God and accepted the call.
