You can transform any plain mirror into a stained glass work of art.A Stained glass Mirror Frame look is the perfect way to recreate a simple and plain glass bathroom mirror into a wonderful home décor piece.
This DIY project is perfect for almost any style bathroom that needs a little updating. You can create stained glass Mirror Frames on vintage glass mirrors or even plain bathroom mirrors in new construction.
To Transformed Your Existing Plain Glass Bathroom Mirror into a Stained Glass Mirror Frame You Will Need:
Plain bathroom mirror
Stained Glass Paint
Paint Brushed
Black Marker
Painter's Tape
To start this craft project you need to decide on a pattern. I like to tape off a four to six inch border on my mirror, and then start designing a pattern.
Your stained glass Mirror Frame pattern will determine what stained glass paint colors you need to buy as well as how much lead you need.
Measure the Mirror Frame you are going to transform. Mark this space out on a piece of drawing paper and sketch out your design. If you have markers I suggest coloring in areas the colors you would like them to be. The more specific you are in the planning the less room for mistakes.
Once you have established your stained glass design you need to transfer it to your Mirror Frame.
Painting the stained glass Bathroom Mirror Frame is the next step. Use a natural bristle artist paintbrush to fill in your colors. Work up to the edges in each block of color. You will be covering the rough edges with picture molding, so you don't have to make them absolutely perfect.
Once your stained glass is completely painted you need to let it dry complete. While your paint is drying your can work on your lead.
Use the sketch to cut out your lead.
Once all of your peel and stick lead is cut out you need to attach it. The lead in-between real stained glass can be black or silver.
