Nintendo, originally a cards game producer, has launched its new console: The Wii. Meant to be called "Revolution", Nintendo decided to name it Wii as a reference to "We" (so people know this console is a console meant to play with friends or relatives). But what is so fantastic about this console? Dive in the Wii world with me.

With its original controller, the Wii is really a must to any gamer's collection. Why? Well, this console actually involves other movements than thumbs-play. You need to use your arms to move the whole controller, just like the Gun game in the old NES where you had to shoot ducks - but in every game, and more advanced in terms of technology.

Why Wii and not the other consoles?

In this section, many aspects of the Wii will be discussed in comparison to the other consoles that are the most up to date at the time of writing this article, the Playstation 3 and the Xbox 360. Many people in the gaming world only go by the specifications of a console instead of taking the experience of playing in account. This is wrong, because as Nintendo said it, who cares about the specification of a console if it's entertaining? But at the same time, the Xbox 360 and the Playstation 3 are both twice as powerful as the Wii, which might make some people put a cross on the Wii. Those people are WRONG! The Wii is a really fun console because of mostly one thing : the controller. With these, you have to move the whole arm to get the character moving in the screen. Seems different from thumbs play ? Yes it is, and that is what makes the Wii so attractive.

But apart from the controller, is there anything else to that console? Yes! It's price, for one thing. At the time of writing this article, the Wii is almost two times cheaper than the Xbox 360 or the Playstation 3. People with good revenue won't care much, but for kids and teenagers, this is a major concern! Also, the Wii has most of the classic games, like Zelda, Mario and Super Smash Brothers. Another interesting fact is that the Wii can also read Gamecube games, which means that if you already own a gamecube, you can buy a Wii and play without even buying a new game.
