Once again, the community of Elkhorn City, KY. has shown remarkable support of ten-year-old Kyle Dean Smith, a Leukemia patient.
The Community Trust Bank Branch in Elkhorn City turned out in "Fighting For Kyle" t-shirts on Friday, February 20, 2009. The workers there also had a small bake sale in the lobby. The money raised will be placed in a
special account set up there to help pay for the processing of tests that will help find a bone marrow donor for Smith.
Several items were available for the donation of $1 each. There were chocolate oatmeal candies, chocolate cupcakes in Spongebob Squarepants papers (because Smith is a fan of the cartoon), peanut butter fudge pieces, and special sugar cookies made in the shape of Spongebob flowers, iced with orange icing since that is the color for Leukemia Awareness, and topped with "Kyle" in white.
"Kyle is our hero." said one of the tellers.
