Remember that movie Who Framed Roger Rabbit? Remember how the Christopher Lloyd character invented a method for killing toons? A method had to be invented because, of course, merely dropping an anvil on a toon's head or pushing them off a Utahesque butte won't do the trick. The Christopher Lloyd character developed this thing called "the dip" into which a toon could be inserted, culminating in death of the cartoon character.

Well, if I ever happen upon that big, dumbass doofus Digital Max-that insipid cartoon spokesman for Cox Communications-I'm going to dip his butt into the dip and erase him forever. Of course, if the dip works anything like Cox Communications vaunted high speed internet, I'll be holding Digital Max in that dip for a few hours. The billionaire 80 year old sisters who own Cox Communications could get me information I'm looking for faster than Cox high speed internet. Heck, their dead in the ground father could probably access data faster than Cox high speed internet can.

Yes, folks, I'm here to warn you against taking the plunge and investing in Cox high speed internet access. In fact, Cox high speed internet access is to be avoided at all cost. It's been a long time since I had to deal with dial up internet access, but to best of my recollection the waiting time for pages to load was roughly the same as Cox's high speed cable modem offers. I'm not sure how often a Cox Communications commercials airs per day in my hometown, but I'm nearly certain it's somewhere in the 200 to 300 times a day range. (Heck, they've even got a whole channel devoted to "informing" customers how to use their hardware.) And considering that Cox Cable is the only game in town when it comes to cable television service, that just seems unnecessary to the digital max.

Takeaways
  • The family of Cox Communications are among the richest women in America.
  • Digital Max is the stupidest, most inane spokesperson in corporate America today.
  • Why does Cox Cable have to advertise in my hometown when they are the only cable company we've got?
Did You Know?
If you enjoy reading novels while waiting for web pages to load, then Cox high speed internet is for you.

and judging by your pic, it looks like you're running an old terayon modem .. if all else fails, replace it with a new motorola.

the other possible cause of slow/intermittent browsing would be poor wiring. call tech support - have them run 'polaris' on your connection. if the signal levels or snr are out of wack, get a field tech dispatched to your home to inspect and possibly repair your house wiring and/or the drop from the cox tap. Cox HSI is ROCK SOLID as long as you take the time to ensure that A) your own home cable wiring is up to snuff. and B) your computer is CLEAN. FYI : the more splitters you have between the demarc (cable box on the side of your home) and your modem, the lower your signal levels will be and the higher the transmits (resistance) will be on the line.. symptoms of signal level issues could be loss of sync or slow browsing... but the slow browse issue could of course be also caused by problems on your own computer as the previous poster noted.

Guess what? It doesnt work for you cuz you're a dumbass and probrably have 1) a slow computer 2) viruses/malware using exorbitant amounts of memory Cox HSI is one of the best products out there, it isn't our fault (yes you read right) that you are too stupid to keep your HDD clean, or can't afford a better computer. If you didnt spend all day whining and got a job you could solve the problem yourself. If you have a valid ip address (start -> run -> cmd -Ok type ipconfig) and we've sent tech out there w/o finding any physical problems then the problem is on your side. Get a firewall, a/v software and a router. Welcome to the year 2007. You dont have to download anything or visit any malicious websites to get infected with spyware/trojans/worms anymore. Malware today often spreads via buffer overflows ,etc. It is YOUR responsibility to safeguard your data, not ours.
