Mediterranean Cruise on Voyager of the Seas

Cruising from Barcelona

3
I enjoyed a Mediterranean cruise onboard the Voyager of the Seas in May. We started with a one night hotel in Barcelona and explored that town and then boarded our ship the next day.

Villefranche Sur Mer, France was our first stop...Very cute medieval village. We took a bus to Monaco after lunch and got to witness the last day of the GRAND PRIX!!! It sounded like a swarm of bees with the cars racing around the roads! We made a stop in Eze on the way back, it was a very cute Medieval village.

Livorno, Italy was our second stop. Most people went to Florence or Pisa but we've already done that, so we rented a car and drove to Volterra (in Tuscany.) Another very cute medieval village. We had fun driving in the circles and stopped on the coast in Castiglioncello for lunch and more wine. We drove around Livorno too and discovered that we had been blowing through all the stop lights, they were up very high and I didn't notice them... Driving in this area was very easy and scenic...A fun day!

Civitavecchia, Italy was our third stop. Most people went to Rome, but we've been several times and decided to try an Olive Oil tour that stopped in Tuscania and then a wine tasting on Lake Bracciano. We passed the castle where Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes got married. Yippee for us.

Naples, Italy was our fourth stop--we took a day trip to Capri and Anacapri. The chair lift to the very top of Anacapri was the highlight for me!!! (See photo below, those are my feet in the corner.) Very scarey :) We also made the pilgrimage to the Chantecler store to buy one of those ugly little historic bells. I got a silver one and will wear it as a necklace.

Palermo, Italy was our fifth stop and the city is a bit of a pit. Dirty and busy. We were able to walk right into the city. Some people took horse and buggy tours. We took an afternoon trip to the quaint fishing village of Cefalu on the north shore.
