A 71 pound brindle male out of Cayman Went and Odd Drew, Odd Ulysses schooled officially for the first time on Halloween of 2006 at Tampa Greyhound Park. His ridiculously easy twelve length victory was an omen of what was to come, and he followed that race up with a win over another touted pup, CTW Newsreel. Odd Ulysses was ready to start in a Maiden race on the 6th of November, and he did not disappoint the Tampa faithful that sent him off the heavy favorite. He cruised to a six length triumph from the seven hole, opening up a lead at the turn that he would never relinquish.
His Grade D race ended with a five length blowout of Bob's Spivey as a 2-5 favorite and his Grade C endeavor was quite similar, a walk in the park over Grey's Nordic Ice in 30.79 over the 1,650 foot sprint distance. Odd Ulysses was even faster in taking his B outing, going the 550 yards in 30.71 to advance up the grading ladder with nary a blemish on his record. But While U Wait caught Odd Ulysses right at the wire to deny the youngster the distinction of an undefeated run through the Tampa grades. The next time out, Legend's Field, a more than capable opponent, held Odd Ulysses off down the stretch to keep him from the winner's circle once again.
