Eating healthy and maintaining a healthy lifestyle is time consuming. Planning and cooking, going to the grocery store, making sure you meet all of your dietary needs, seems like it eats into your schedule when you could be spending time with your loved ones, relaxing from a hard day's work, or getting those couple extra hours of sleep. With the tips offered below, make quick, easy, and healthy meals for you and your family, so that you can enjoy your life without the hassle of cooking for hours on end.

Tip 1: Preparation

With a couple of minutes spent preparing or spending a chunk of time doing the cooking for the week, you'll find the rest of the week to be a breeze. Find out what meats typically have the same prep time or cooks at the same temperature in the oven. For example, if you were able to bake a chicken, pot roast, and pork chops all at the same time, you would have 3 main entrees completed in approximately 3 hours of time, ready to eat or refrigerate for later. For fast defrosting, freeze your meat in small quantities...use individual bags for each chicken breast, separate your ground beef into patties, etc.

Tip 2: Side Dishes

Preparing a side dish in addition to your main entrée, creates a complete meal. Make sure you prepare side dishes each day. Most side dishes are quick and easy to prepare. Some healthy options are pastas, rice, vegetables, or potatoes. You'll find any of these items in the freezer section, canned, boxed, or fresh in your grocery store.

Tip 3: Get Help

There is no sense in having to do all of the cooking and preparation yourself. Get the rest of your family or household to pitch in. For example, on a Friday night have hotdogs, burgers, or pizza and make it a family party where everyone pitches in. If you have to order out, make sure everyone contributes. If you are making the meal, distribute tasks so that everyone can help. Make cooking a fun family activity, rather than a chore.

Tip 4: Leftovers

Thanks for your comment, Melody. Yeah, sometimes a step on the front-end can save a lot of time on the back-end.

Sure do love the crockpot. Also, lining cooking pans in foil is a great idea. I know it, I just don't do it!
