Living in Atlantic Beach New York is living in a beach community four seasons of the year. Atlantic Beach is located on the west of a barrier island in the Atlantic Ocean, off the south coast of Nassau County. It is part of the Town of Hempstead, Nassau County, which brings up one very important point. The use of the beaches is restricted to the residents of the Town of Hempstead. Any of the homes in the private communities, do not have access to the public beaches, but there are private beach clubs. When looking at real estate in Atlantic Beach, New York, one of the most important questions to ask is which beaches you will have access to.

Atlantic Beach is less than an hour's commute to Manhattan. There is a Long Island Railroad station in the neighboring village of Long Beach, just a short drive east on the island.

There is a bridge from th main land right to Atlantic Beach. From there it is just a shot drive to Queens, the shopping malls in Nassau County and to Belmont Race Track and Cross Island Parkway will take you all the way to the North of Queens and connect with Southern State and Northern State Parkways.

The real estate in Atlantic Beach New York consists of one family homes. And they are all unique, with some of the larger more expensive ones being mini estates with private pools and landscaped gardens. One house is more beautiful than the other. You can look at real estate all day and not see two that are exactly the same. Atlantic Beach is not a large community and there will not be that many houses for sale at any one time. The ones listed here will give you a good start in learning about the price range and the different options available. A large, modern home of the water will cost a lot more than a more modest one inland, but the island is so narrow that no matter where you are, you are not more than a couple of blocks from the beach.

Give it a day to see if you like Atlantic Beach. Try out the restaurants and just walk around. If you are a beach person, you will not be able to say no, and if you are not sure you want to live by the beach year round, Atlantic Beach just might be the neighborhood that could convince you to say yes.
