Thoughts on St. Patrick's Day

Thoughts for St. Patrick's Day

The wearin' of the green today,
it's not a costume for a play,
but I heard a leprechaun say,
we're all Irish on St. Patrick's day.

No matter the color of our skin,
we're all alike without, within.
Corn beef and cabbage, favorite dish,
still only once a year we wish.

The ale is even colored green,
strangest ale I've ever seen,
I'll drink mine ale of purest gold,
a sparkling brew untouched by mold.

River runs green, I've heard it said,
they've colored it, 'cause I've seen it red.
I'll wear my green shirt, shoes and cloak,
an Irish lass 'til the day I croak.
