Cherryfield, Maine is a quaint village known as 'the blueberry capitol of the world'. The Cherryfield - Narraguagus Historical Society provides maps and information about 81 historic sites in the Cherryfield Historical District. This district is comprised of 75 acres along both sides of the Narraguagus River. Most homes and structures of the historical district of Cherryfield were built during the 1900's, as this riverside community was developed. Wood-framed buildings are in a variety of architectural styles, including Second Empire, Federal, Greek Revival, Italianate, Queen Anne, Colonial Revival. Notable Historical Sites in Cherryfield, Maine

The Cherryfield Narraguagus Historical Society, circa 1840, is housed in a building formerly known as the Narraguagus Inn.

The Old Cemetery was the first cemetery in Cherryfield. Graves date back to 1810.

The Cherryfield Railway Station was built in 1898 and used by the Washington County Railroad Company. The Cherryfield Narraguagus Historical Society bought the station for $1.00 and had to move the building a half mile south of its original site.

The Baptist Church built in 1905 is a traditional church with stained glass windows and a bell tower.

The Cherryfield Academy was a school until 1967, then a town office and library until 1992.

The Grammar School was built in 1899 and opened in 1900.

The C.H. Mathews Store was built before 1880 and is still open today. Aside from the satellite dish and a few coats of paint, the store hasn't changed much.

The U.N. Small Store built in 1860 was used by a local merchant and later as the town post office.

The Burnham Tavern was built in 1840. This tavern was also used as a hotel and is currently the home of K&R Automotive Repair.

Silsby Block was an office and drug store of Dr. E.B. Silsby. Built in 1895, this historic building is now the River Bank Art Gallery and Antique Store.
