Sugar Mountain Resort- Avery County North Carolina
Possibly the most famous North Carolina Ski Resort. They have a triple chairlift, 4 doubles and 3 surface lifts. The system they have in place allows for over 8,000 people an hour to be lifted up to the top of the mountain. They offer 20 slopes of varying difficulty, and 115 acres of skiing area. They also have tubing and snowboarding. In the lodge they have a candy shop, a lounge, a sports shop and equipment rentals and much more! They also have a skiing and snowboarding school with both individual and group classes.
Appalachian Ski Mountain in Blowing Rock North Carolina
Open since 1962, they have 10 slopes , 2 terrain parks and an outdoor ice arena. Their season lasts from November to April. They also offer night skiing 7 nights a week. They have ski and stay packages to lodge right next to the slopes.
Cataloochee Ski Area in Maggie Valley North Carolina
They have some nice drive-slide-stay packages, and offer classes in skiing and snowboarding. The lodge has a double sided fireplace as well as a gift shop and sometimes has musical entertainment. If you love it so much that you have to come back, buy a season pass for discounts.
Ski Beech Resort at Beech Mountain
They have group rates, and offer other specials and discounts. They have both a snow sports learning center, and a youth learning center. Ski Beech also offers a 7,000 sq foot ice skating rink. They claim the highest elevation in Eastern North America, and can lift over 9,000 skiers an hour. They even have a nursery for kids aged 6 months to 3 years old.
Wolf Creek Ski Resort in Mars Hill North Carolina
Wolf Creek has tubing and skiing as well as snow boarding. They have recently added 15 acres of skiing and a new terrain park. They have two lodges with huge fireplaces to stay at, and this is a family oriented resort.
