There is no need for paid programming to be scheduled for the majority of the day. Many broadcast television networks air paid programming on weekends and during early morning hours. This may be due to the fact that they do not have enough programs to fill a twenty four hour time period. Cable television networks air TV shows and movies throughout the entire day. These programs are aired seven days a week. This causes many television viewers to tune into cable channels rather than average broadcast stations.

Since its inception, cable television has been a successful competitor of regular broadcast networks over the years. Today, it is rare to find a household that does not have cable television. Broadcast TV networks have lost the majority of their audience due to lack of quality programming. Many television viewers do not care to watch tons of infomercials at any given time.

Independent films offer quality filling for open time blocks on broadcast TV networks. The times at which someone will want to sit on the couch and watch television will vary. Everyone has a different schedule for how they operate on a daily basis. Broadcast TV networks should be able to provide high quality programming frequently. This can be achieved by adding independent films into the lineup.

Men and women should not have to endure hours of infomercials after working the late shift at their job. People are awake at various times of the day and night. Cable television has done a great job of providing entertaining programs all night long. Heroes, American Idol and All My Children should not be the only television shows that broadcast networks have to offer.

Every now and then, broadcast networks will air a Made-for-TV movie. While this is a nice change from the average programming, it still does not have a long lasting effect. These movies are shown during prime time hours. This means that if someone gets home from work at 11:00pm, he or she will have missed out on an entertaining movie. The same is true for those who do not come home until early in the morning.
